Most people come to us asking for a lamp with a specific wattage or length. They just want a drop-in replacement to get the line moving again. But here’s the thing: in glass preheating, the lamp is only one piece of the puzzle. If your glass is cracking or your cycle times are dragging, swapping a 2kW tube for another 2kW tube usually does nothing. It’s like putting new tires on a car with a broken engine.
The heat density problem
It’s all about how voltage and wattage actually hit the glass. Sure, a high-wattage tube pumps out a ton of heat and speeds things up. But if your reflectors are pitted or your conveyor is moving at the wrong speed, that heat doesn’t go in evenly. You end up with hot spots. Then comes the thermal shock. That’s why we look at the actual heat flux on your line. We need to see if you’re using the wrong wavelength or if your lamps are just spaced poorly.
It’s more than just a plug
Different tech, like quartz or halogen, ramps up at different speeds. Some coated tubes can even shift the light spectrum so the glass absorbs the heat better. We don’t just pick a connector like an R7s or Sk15 because it fits the slot. We actually check if your wiring can handle the pull. High-output systems are hungry. If your power supply struggles and the voltage drops, your lamp will never hit the temperature it needs to do the job.
Why we show up in person
We’d much rather visit your floor than stare at a spec sheet. We want to see the temperature profile across the glass surface. We look for those annoying air drafts that sneak in and steal your heat. Putting a “perfect” lamp into a poorly designed oven is just throwing money away. We find where the energy is leaking. Once we map those gaps, we can figure out the exact wattage and coating to finally stabilize your process. It’s about the whole system. The part is just the finish line.
